Job Summary:
The Claims Adjuster Paralegal is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the legal team in managing claims related to law and criminal justice matters. This role requires a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze and evaluate claims accurately. The Claims Adjuster Paralegal works closely with attorneys, clients, and insurance companies to ensure efficient and effective resolution of claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations to gather relevant information related to claims, including reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining necessary documents
- Assess the validity and potential value of claims by analyzing and evaluating evidence, legal precedents, and jurisdictional regulations
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop case strategies and legal arguments based on the findings from investigations
- Prepare accurate and detailed claim reports, including summaries of investigations, supporting evidence, and recommended actions
- Communicate and negotiate with insurance companies, claimants, and other relevant parties to ensure fair and prompt resolution of claims
- Draft legal correspondence, including settlement offers, demand letters, and claim denials
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediations, and trials by organizing case files, drafting legal documents, and coordinating witness testimonies
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to claims, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and industry practices related to claims management and adjust procedures accordingly
- Provide administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and organizing meetings
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Proven working experience as a Paralegal or Claims Adjuster in a law firm, insurance company, or relevant legal setting
- Strong knowledge of legal principles, procedures, and terminology related to claims management
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to assess claims and make informed decisions
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents and correspondence
- Proficient in conducting legal research using various resources and databases
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity
- Proficiency in using legal software and technology, including case management systems and document management software
